Fun with your kids
“When you look at your life, the greatest happiness’s are family happiness.”
~Joyce Brothers~
Often than not all our kids hear is the barking of orders and questions on hygiene. Making time to have fun with your kids not only allows you to reconnect with them but also very therapeutic as it relieves stress and helps you unwind. I have come up with a short list of things to do with kids. Mind you non of these activities involve computer games or being indoors much. So get ready to have some back to basics fun. - Blow bubbles. I do this with my two kids and it's a lot of fun running around trying to burst the bubbles.
- Colouring books. Spread out on the floor and colour.
- Jump rope or Footsie. The kids were amazed when I showed them that I could jump rope
- Hop Scotch and Moral. Another set of games that require little effort to set up.
- Put on their favorite music video and dance around the house.
- Build sandcastles with them at the beach.
These games allow kids to see their parent/s in a different light. Not the drill sergeant
but someone they can relate to.
If you have ideas that you would like to share we would love to hear them.

Living an Authentic Life
The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.
~ Carl Jung
The authentic self is soul made visible.
- Sarah Ban Breathnach
With the demands of everyday life, we can lose sight of who we really are. We get lost in the roles that are defined for us - mother, wife, daughter, friend, student, business woman. But who are you really and are you being true to your inner self? Are you being authentic? According to an article from Psychcentral.com being authentic means coming from a real place within. It is when our actions and words are congruent with our beliefs and values. It is being ourselves, not an imitation of what we think we should be or have been told we should be. When we are not living authentically the tell tale signs there, feelings of disconnect, dissatisfaction, uninspired and an overwhelming feeling of loss.

The Importance of Taking Time Out to Breathe
We all know the importance of relaxation - of taking time out, yet how many of us actually do it. We get so caught up in the daily hectic pace that few of us actually realise the serious mental and physical impact that too much stress and not enough relaxation can cause. Failing to take time out to recharge, to relax can contribute to mental health problems like anxiety attacks, depression or worse heart attacks.
The $46 rubber chicken...
Just kidding! This post is not about an actual rubber chicken (but it might as well be). In fact it is how I managed to stretch a $46 rotisserie chicken over three different meals for a family of four. Read on and find out. This might work for you too.
